Mainland China Visa vs. Hong Kong Entry Rules
A mainland Chinese visa does not by itself determine permission to enter Hong Kong. Hong Kong applies a separate immigration system based on nationality, purpose and length of stay.
Three points to handle correctly
- Check Hong Kong eligibility separately before booking
- Count a return from Hong Kong to mainland China as another mainland entry
- Make sure the mainland visa has enough entries
Why applicants often get this wrong
The common problem is not always one missing form. It is often a mismatch among the COVA answers, passport details, invitation, itinerary or supporting evidence. Reviewers may also request a clarification or original document for the individual case.
