China S Visa Inviter Documents Checklist
An S application depends on the status of the foreign inviter in China. Uploads should show both who the inviter is and the valid work-or-study-related status supporting the visit.
What to collect from the inviter
- Clear passport bio-page copy matching the name used in the invitation.
- For S1, a clear residence-permit copy; for S2, the published list permits a residence permit or visa copy.
- A signed invitation containing the Annex 1 identity, relationship, contact and travel fields.
- Relationship certificate appropriate to S1 or S2, with originals available where the instructions require verification.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming another applicant's category, validity or stay will apply to your case.
- Letting names, dates or purpose conflict across COVA and inviter, school or employer documents.
- Uploading cropped screenshots or incomplete pages that hide the issuer or key facts.
Can the inviter send only a China visa copy?
For S2 the current published list says residence permit or visa; for S1 it specifically lists the residence permit. Match the documents to the selected category.
Reddit and other community reports can reveal common confusion, but an individual outcome is not an official rule and does not replace current consular requirements.
