From COVA to passport submission

1. Confirm the office from current U.S. residence before starting COVA.
2. Complete the online form and uploads for preliminary review by that office.
3. When the status shows “Passport to be submitted,” prepare the passport, barcode information page and required originals.
4. The applicant or an agent submits under the office's current instructions; an interview or more evidence may still be requested.

Common jurisdiction mistakes

• Choosing by birthplace, passport issuance or China destination instead of U.S. residence.
• Following an old Houston district, obsolete appointment system or expired office notice.
• Selecting an office in COVA that conflicts with the residence evidence.
