China Z Visa and the Work Permit Notice: Employer Checklist
The current Z visa document list names the Notice for the Work Permit for Foreigners. The employer-side approval and the consular visa application are connected but separate processes.
Check before submitting COVA
- Applicant name, passport number, employer name and intended position should match the notice and application.
- Do not substitute an offer letter for the published Work Permit Notice requirement.
- Confirm changes with the employer before submission rather than explaining avoidable discrepancies afterward.
- The Z visa allows entry for work-related residence processing; it does not itself replace the work permit or residence permit.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming another applicant's category, validity or stay will apply to your case.
- Letting names, dates or purpose conflict across COVA and inviter, school or employer documents.
- Uploading cropped screenshots or incomplete pages that hide the issuer or key facts.
