Can a China M Visa Be Issued for One Year or Multiple Entries?

U.S. applicants may request a one-year or multiple-entry China M visa when repeated commercial travel is supported, but the authority decides validity, entries and each stay.

Direct answer: You may request one-year or multiple-entry M issuance and support the request with a credible pattern of repeated commercial travel. It is not an entitlement: the visa authority decides the category, enter-before date, number of entries and duration of each stay. For U.S. citizens, the current reduced regular visa fee is $140 regardless of the entry row, through December 31, 2026.

Request versus issued visa

COVA records what the applicant requests. The visa sticker records what was issued. Chinese regulations define number of entries, entry validity and duration of stay as separate fields, so a one-year enter-before period does not itself mean unlimited entries or a one-year stay on each visit.

When the passport is returned, inspect category, entries, enter-before date, duration of each stay, name and passport number before booking. Report an apparent printing error promptly; do not infer the missing field from what was requested.

Build a credible repeated-travel record

The M invitation should describe the real commercial activity, expected dates and locations, relationship with the China trade partner and who pays. If repeated visits are genuinely planned, explain the expected frequency and purpose rather than copying a generic request for the longest possible visa.

Prior compliant travel, existing commercial relationships and a schedule of recurring meetings may help explain the request, but no single item guarantees multiple entries. Keep the invitation, COVA travel plan and employer letter consistent.

Separate government fees from service costs

The Embassy’s fee notice keeps the reduced U.S.-citizen regular visa fee at $140 through December 31, 2026 and lists a $25 express surcharge. That government fee is separate from eChinaVisa service, shipping and any third-party document costs.

Express service changes the requested processing channel, not the visa validity or likelihood of multiple entries. It also does not eliminate preliminary review, passport submission, possible supplemental requests or shipping time.
