Can One COVA Account Submit China Visa Applications for the Whole Family?

One COVA account may be used for multiple family members, but every adult and child still needs a separate application with the correct filer declaration.

Direct answer: Yes. Current Chinese consular instructions in the United States state that one COVA account can submit applications for multiple individuals. However, family members are not combined into one visa form: create and complete a separate application for every adult and child, use each person's own passport and supporting documents, and identify the person who filled the form when filing on someone else's behalf.

One login, separate applications

Return to the COVA home page after saving or submitting one person's form and start a new application for the next family member. Keep a simple roster of names, passport numbers, application IDs, categories and current statuses so files do not get mixed.

A shared account does not make review simultaneous. Each application has its own barcode, supporting evidence and status, and one family member may reach passport submission before another.

Complete the filer declaration correctly

The current COVA guide asks whether the filer is the applicant or a person completing the form on the applicant's behalf. For a parent completing a child's form—or one adult helping another—identify the filer and relationship truthfully instead of signing as if the applicant personally entered every answer.

Adults remain responsible for truthful information in their own applications. For minors, use the child's passport facts, category evidence and parent documents required for that child's circumstances; do not copy an adult's answers across forms.

Coordinate without forcing one timeline

Monitor every application separately. If some family members are returned for correction, address those comments promptly; do not submit a duplicate application merely to make all statuses match. Follow the responsible office's current instructions on whether passports may be delivered together.

eChinaVisa can organize the family roster, pre-review each form and coordinate passport logistics after the correct status appears. We cannot merge cases, accelerate a particular family member or guarantee a common decision date.

Frequently asked questions

Do children need separate COVA forms?

Yes. Each child needs a separate application even when a parent uses one family login.

Can adults and children use the same email account?

Yes, current U.S. instructions allow multiple individuals under one account, while every form remains separate.

Will all family applications finish review together?

Not necessarily. Each application is reviewed individually and may receive different correction requests or timing.
