China Visa Express Service: Timing, Eligibility and Costs
The current Embassy instructions list regular service as four business days and express service as three business days for an urgent situation. This clock begins after passport submission—not when COVA is first started—and individual cases may take longer.
Current planning checklist
- Complete COVA and online preliminary review before the passport-submission clock begins.
- Express availability is determined by the receiving Embassy or Consulate and the circumstances of the case.
- The official notice lists an additional $25 express fee per visa through December 31, 2026.
- Add document preparation, correction, outbound shipping and return shipping to the consular estimate.
