China Visa Fees and Service Costs Explained

A complete price is not one number. Separate the government visa fee, any officially accepted express fee, eChinaVisa’s independent service fee, shipping and any case-specific third-party cost.

Current official notice: The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. says reduced visa fees remain in effect through December 31, 2026. U.S. citizens are currently listed at $140 for regular visa service; non-U.S. citizen fees vary by nationality and entries.

Four different cost categories

  1. Government visa fee: charged under the current Chinese authority schedule.
  2. Official express fee: the current notice lists an additional $25 when express service is accepted.
  3. eChinaVisa service fee: payment for independent document review, coordination, agent handling and case workflow.
  4. Shipping or third-party costs: tracked passport transport or other specifically disclosed services.

Why nationality matters

Government fees can depend on citizenship, reciprocity, entries and visa type. The current notice lists different fees for non-U.S. citizens and warns that certain nationalities vary. Confirm the live order and official schedule rather than assuming the U.S.-citizen price applies.

When costs become nonrefundable

Government, shipping and third-party fees are separate and generally cannot be returned after they are incurred. eChinaVisa service-fee cancellation and refund treatment follows the published policy and work already completed. Visa refusal alone does not create a refund right.

Avoid misleading comparisons

A low advertised number may exclude the government fee, shipping or later handling. Compare the same components and read what is collected now versus later. Reddit price reports are individual experiences, not an official rule and may use an expired fee schedule.
